John Mayer's Concert's a Wonderland!
Every year, I have to be sure to catch one Marcus Amphitheater concert during Summerfest. This year was no exception! I headed over to John Mayer, and it was one of the best Marcus Amphitheater shows I'd seen in a long time! With Ben Folds opening--I really couldn't have asked for more.
My tickets were for section 4, which is located in the yellow section at the Marcus Amphitheater. Tickets were hard to come by for the show--but no matter where people were sitting they had an amazing time! I was right behind section three, which is left of the center, if you're facing the stage. I was about 40 rows from the stage, but even though I was on the side--I felt like I was in the middle of the action.
Mayer played a little bit of everything. From old to new to upbeat and to bluesy. And, boy, he is a man who knows how to play his guitar!! It's so refreshing to see that talent so young in an artist, when a lot of singers these day don't even play their own instruments. His back-up band rocked too!
The concert lasted for hours and he came back with three encores! Here's the whole set list:
No Such Thing
Good Love is On the Way
I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You)
Dreaming With A Broken Heart
Waiting on the World to Change
I Don't Need No Doctor
Bigger Than My Body
-- encore --
Slow Dancing (acoustic)
Your Body is a Wonderland (acoustic)
I'm Gonna Find Another You
And, some lucky fans were treated to a repeat performance after the show when they checked out Buddy Guy who was playing on one of the Summerfest stages after the show. John Mayer joined Guy the stage to jam with with the legendary blues player. Unfortunately, I had already gone home because I was so exhausted from singing and dancing along with the show!
And I guess I'll need my rest so I can be ready for more exciting Marcus Amphitheater shows soon!
