Pop music fans will have a treat for Saturday, August 23 when the Counting Crows, Maroon 5 and Sara Bareilles play the Marcus Amphitheater. On their own, their draw couldn't fill the venue, but collectively, I think it is a nice lineup. All three acts have great sing along tunes. Also to note, Barielles, the least known of the three played to a sold-out house at Milwaukee's Pabst Theater just a month ago. While I own very few of these bands' tunes, I would be up for getting a ticket. It certainly will be a better show than July 19, 2008 CrueFest, as in Motley Crue. No offense, but that sausage fest is one I will be glad to skip.
The Counting Crows have a new disk out, "Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings", while Maroon 5 is working off their past material with a few singles sprinkled in since 2007 and then of course, we can all go right along with Bareilles as she sings itunes blow-up hit, "Love Song". "I don't want to write you a love song...." I just can't help it, no matter how often I hear it. Kudos to her for a good song, which doesn't grow old.
