Now that fall is going into winter, I'm sitting here thinking about Summerfest and the Marcus Amphitheater. I can remember when I went to the Alicia Keys concert on July 1st, 2008. The opening act was Stephan Marley, a son of the legendary Bob Marley. I've always liked reggae, I just didn't realize how much until I saw Stephan Marley and his band perform live. He performed some of his own songs, as well as some of his father's classic hits.

When Alicia Keys came out, everyone was already fired up from the performance that Stephan Marley gave. She started with the song No One, my favorite from her new album titled As I Am. That was followed up with other hits like: Teenage Love Affair, Superwomen, and Fallen. Besides her piano skills and amazing voice, she is an all-around great performer. I would definitely make my way to see her if she came to Summerfest again.

Another summer night in September, I found myself at Pantherfest held at the Marcus Amphitheater. There was a piano rock band Jack's Mannequin along with Lupe Fiasco. Lupe had the whole place kicking and pushing as he was hip hopping around.

There were many other bands in the line up that I really knew nothing about, but I was willing to broaden my horizons. The skies threatened to rain, but fortunately, the night turned out to be wonderful. I thought it was a great event overall, even with the gloom-and-doom forecast.
