Summerfest 2014 Side Stage Headline Acts Come Together

Summerfest side stage headline acts are almost set, and now we just wait for the weather to turn for the better.  As most fans know, there are eleven stages scattered around the festival park, all packed with music from noon to midnight. It's almost silly to call them "side stages" because thousands of people will flock to each and every stage for the big name acts.  Compared to the 25,000 seat Marcus Amphitheater, you could say that they are "smaller" than the big one.  Who are some of the big acts for 2014?

Summerfest Marcus Amphitheater Headline Shows

Bruno Mars with Aloe Blacc
Brad Paisley with Darius Rucker
Lady Gaga
Outkast with Gary Clark Jr.
Zac Brown Band
Dave Matthews Band
Motley Crue with Alice Cooper
Fall Out Boy and Paramore
Usher with Bebe Rexha

There is one more headline show to be announced.  For show dates, check out the link here.

Side stages are a great place to catch more than one band in a single day.  If you plan on staying for the headline act, get there early, as the crowds tend to stake their claim well before the big show of the evening. One of our favorite places to see a show is the new BMO Harris Pavilion. The venue can hold shows during off days at Summerfest, and the roof makes it so easy for festival goers to stay out of the elements.

This is just a sample of side stage headline shows coming in 2014. For a full listing, check the link above.

Cowboy Mouth
Saints of Valory
John Hiatt and the Combo
The Pretty Reckless
Delta Rae
Best Coast
REO Speedwagon
Taj Mahal Trio
DJ Pauly D
Michael McDonald
George Thorogood and the Destroyers
Neon Trees

We look forward to seeing some great music this summer.  There are special discounts during certain days, and it's best to take advantage of whatever special offers come up.  One ticket buys you a pass to every stage but the Marcus Amphitheater.  Marcus Amp. shows require separate admission. See you at Summerfest!

Do you know the best way to find out how large the pit area will be for the Dave Matthews concert? Also, and ideas on how early to get there (if I need to be early)? Thanks!

It doesn't show a pit for the Dave Matthews show. If there was a pit, it would probably extend to row H. As for getting there early, your seats are assigned, no? The show starts at 7pm, and they probably have an opening band. So if you have a ticket with an assigned seat, get there whenever you like, but don't forget that opening bands rarely play for more than 45 minutes. And, if you are going to a Marcus show with a pit, you would want to get there early, in order to work your way up front. Otherwise, they only print a specific number of pit tickets, so it's not like you won't be able to get in to the pit area, if you show up later.

Sorry!! Yes, there is a pit. It looks like it would go as far back as row H in the center. So if you want to get really close, you should see when the Marcus Amp. opens, and get into the pit area as soon as you can. People come and go from the pit, but the most dedicated fans will certainly stay right up against the stage. Good luck!
