Marcus Amphitheater headline shows have been booked for Summerfest 2016. It's ten days of music, with a slight majority of the headline shows being "country" style. Alabama Shakes comes to Milwaukee on July 2, Blink 182 will headline on July 5, Pitbull runs the show on June 30th, and Tim McGraw headlines July 3. That makes four country shows, Three "Oldies" nights, if you include Paul McCartney as an "oldie" act. The fact that pop (with a touch of punk) stars Blink 182 have been playing for 20 years also puts them in an "oldies" category, but they have a new singer, and are still putting out new music. Selena Gomez covers the teenager crowd.
Summerfest is not an organization that takes risks with headline shows at the 20,000 seat venue. Judging by the "side" stage line ups this year, they aren't taking too many risks there either. Still, it's the cheapest music festival around, and once can have a great time enjoying the nostalgia acts that are in big supply this summer.
